Our training program gives you and your pup the confidence to experience life together in a whole new way. We are a small boutique style training company born in New Bern, North Carolina. Our personalized one-on-one experience ensures your pup has our undivided attention. Goals are set based on your individual lifestyle needs. We know trust and relationship is the way to your pup's heart and incorporate realistic scenarios into our home based program so you're set for success.

Our five-step program will evaluate your pups' challenges, establish your family goals, walk through an in-person evaluation, and build a customized training program that'll help your pup succeed. Personal Dog Training New Bern NC

Your pup is an active part of your family, and we understand that investing in their education early is critical to having a strong, healthy relationship. Our personalized 5-step program means we’re addressing any problem areas upfront and empowering you with the skills you need to continue to build confidence in your pup.

 

1. Intake

Complete our Proper Pup application. We’ll evaluate your pup and ensure he’s a good fit for our program.

 
 
 

2. Consult

Let’s chat about your areas of concern and opportunities for improvement. Based on your goals we’ll develop a personal training plan to work together to achieve the results you’re looking for.

3. Training

The work begins! Your pup is enrolled in a custom program and we will get started on our personal training plan.

 
 

4. Graduation

After training is complete, your pup will graduate and be ready for an exciting new relationship with you and your family.

 

5. Continued
Learning

Know that your Proper Pup trainer is always available for maintenance lessons, and your pup is also eligible for group classes with fellow Proper Pup alumni.

Our custom in-home, one-on-one dog training services are designed to cater to the unique needs of both puppies and dogs of all ages. We understand that each dog is different, and are committed to helping you and your pup achieve obedience and behavior modification goals in the comfort of your own home. Whether you have a rambunctious puppy in need of a solid foundation to build upon or an older dog with specific behavioral issues, our expert trainer will create a personalized program tailored to your dog's temperament and your family's lifestyle. With our training, you can build a strong, respectful bond with your dog while addressing behavioral challenges, resulting in a happier and harmonious life together.

    Lindsey helped me to understand how my dog thinks and what motivates her. Then she trained us both how to work together using consistent and frequent use of commands and lots of praise. Gracie now knows what to expect from me and what I expect from her. She has come a long way! So have I! We now look for opportunities on every walk to practice our skills so that our walks don't become boring. Our favorite activities are perching (in place) on rocks and letting go of the leash entirely for a little "follow-me" practice.     Lindsey is nothing short of incredible! I have never hired a dog trainer, but she came highly recommended when we got our Australian Shepherd pup. When Lindsey came over to meet Juno for the first time, she explained to us everything she could teach him. I was in a bit of disbelief, but in just a few short lessons, she has absolutely delivered on what she promised. Juno is so well-behaved now. He LOVES to see Lindsey come into the yard for training. She has unlocked incredible potential in our puppy and in us -- as she explains how Juno thinks and learns. How long do I need to train with my dog on my own?

We know first hand how difficult it can be to juggle work, family time, and your canine companion. We put special attention into helping you with a plan to incorporate training into your daily life. Think training in small windows throughout the day as opposed to long drawn out sessions. Your trainer will give you realistic tips on when and how to blend real life and training.

Do you guarantee your service?

No, we do not. We can not guarantee your pup will master everything as every dog is different and in order for these lessons to stick long term each pup’s timeline may look different. We are honest and upfront with what we can and cannot accomplish. We have developed programs that yield results and only accept pups and owners we truly believe will benefit from our training.
